Kassens awarded the 2011 Mednick Memorial Fellowship Research Award

Alice Louise Kassens, Associate Professor of Economics, was awarded the 2011 Mednick Memorial Fellowship Research Award for her project regarding clinical depression and labor market outcomes.  Kassens is co-authoring the paper with Dr. William M. Rodgers III (Rutgers University).  The award will assist travel to the RDC at SUNY-Baruch College (NYC) during Kassens sabbatical (Spring 2012).

Fourteen Mednick Awards were made to faculty from the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges for 2011, including Washington and Lee University, Hampton-Sydney College, and Randolph College.  Awards are for any discipline.  This year awards went to faculty in the Natural Sciences, History, and English.  Kassens earned the only economics award.
