Roanomics is coming!

November 4, 2011

It is almost that time of year again.

Volume 2, Issue 1 of Roanomics is almost ready and will be released November 4, 2011.

Many of you have already used the tabs at the top of the blog to update your contact information or take our alumni survey.  If you have not, please do so.

The newsletter goes out via email, so we need your address.  If you do not want us to share that email, there is a place for you to tell us that.

Alumni, current students are very interested in what they can do with their Economics degree.  It is always great to be able to give them examples of what our Roanoke College alumni are doing.  To that end, please use the tab at the top of the blog for the alumni survey.

Something fun going on?  Alumni, students, friends, there is a tab at the top of blog for you to tell us all about it.  Use the "What's new with you?" tab.

We look forward to hearing from all of you!  Help make this issue of Roanomics the best one yet!

Thanks from Senior Editor Alice Kassens & Student Editor Sara Caudle '12

Visiting Instructor, Shahram Amini

The Roanoke College Economics Program has three new faces amongst the faculty this year. Over the course of the coming weeks you will be introduced to each one.

Meet Shahram Amini.

Shahram Amini is teaching two Principles of Macroeconomics courses in the Economics Program this semester, and will take on FOUR classes next semester.  All of this while he finishes his dissertation for a PhD in Economics from Virginia Tech!  He is very busy.

Shahram is no stranger to academia.  He has both a bachelors and masters degree in electrical engineering.  He has moved on to Economics, earning his masters from Virginia Tech.  He is currently finishing his dissertation for the PhD in Economics.

Shahram is a very active man who enjoys playing sports, especially tennis, and different kinds of outdoor activities including hiking and biking. Traveling is his passion.  Shahram states "I've had a nomadic life style and have traveled to many places."

We are glad that his travels took him to Roanoke College.  If you have a chance, take one of his classes.  Welcome to Roanoke College Shahram!
